Last Night of Studio B

Last August double-breasted set out to record 13 songs. Last night we finally finished tracking! What an interminable process this has been! At least we finished. Now onward to mixing & all the rest.

My tennis partner has been on vacation these past few days, so I've been out of my routine of getting super sweaty in my fashionable tennis skirts. Hopefully tomorrow I'll play again.

Finally, I put together some totally hokey montages of double-breasted pictures with one of our newly mixed songs. I think it's hysterical.

I have dirt on my toe

So we've taken the leap to not watch television or play video games this week. Daddy comes home today, so we'll see how he reacts to this plan.

In happy news, Kristy spent Friday getting 5 more songs mixed - that means 7 of 13 songs are ready for mastering! We put 2 of the songs up on our myspace...if you want to have a listen.

So we might take a Sunday morning stroll. It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Up Date

Recording - Sunday should be the final day of vocals. Onward to mixing!

Sports - I have returned to my sporty spice inner self this summer, joining the lake Tennis and Table Tennis teams. I am getting back into, literally, the swing of things. Tonight we won our doubles Table Tennis match! I'm also working on slamming a ping pong ball.

Enlightenment - Reading "The Inner Game of Tennis," finding it useful everywhere.

Fun - Project Runway is on tonight. I forgot to DVR it during the Table Tennis match.

Cello - I practiced last on Sunday, after a really stressful weekend. I think I will pick it up again when I finish typing. I think I'm finding sports are helping me stay awake, ergo I practice more.

Outside - I did some gardening today, just before the big rain. I'll try to stop and smell them.

Last Night.

recording has been a S L O W process for double-breasted, but we are almost finished with the vocals, finally.
Of course there is album stuff to do, but for now I'll give us the thumbs up.

I Feel Good

My callouses have returned! I've been able to practice a few hours a day for the past couple of weeks.
What a great feeling.

I did,

[practice] and it was good. I'm getting back into the swing of summer practice. what a wonderful time of year.

I, we, my band, have been in the process of recording forever now, so it feels strange to practice for a live show. 2 shows, actually -

August 16th, 3pm at the Black River Music & Art Fest in Chester, NJ

and

September 19th at The Court Tavern in New Brunswick, NJ

It's sad when you can't remember how to play your own songs, but it's all coming back to us.

I have been playing through Lee's 40 Melodic & Progressive Exercises for Cello. I wish I had found these exercises when I was younger. I found this copy in the bins at Patelson's, which made the trek worthwhile. Fun stuff.

Play now, play later.
